Chelsea garden give away winner!

Hargreaves Court was today the proud new home to the garden and sculptures that were shown at Chelsea Flower Show. During a lovely garden party with all the residents of Hargreaves Court, their family, friends and staff the garden and sculptures were unveiled with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Hargreaves eldest resident Ruby aged 97.

It was a lovely event complete with strawberries and cream, sparkling wine and even a band. The local and regional press were present along with a film crew from the BBC East Midlands Today program, watch out this week for the coverage of the Green Garden Project.

All the project participants came along to see the final setting for the sculptures that they created through the series of workshops, and enjoyed the refreshments on offer. Everyone was over the moon to see the finished project and all the happy faces of Hargreaves Court residents.

The staff and residents at Hargreaves are a great bunch, really friendly and welcoming, they definitely deserved to win, Thanks for the lovely bouquet of flowers.

Chelsea, all done!

Well the 2010 Chelsea flower show is all over, the sculptures were well received and I am very tired.

After preparing for this event for nearly two years it’s all over and I am having a well deserved rest at home. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of creating the work and designing a show stand, and showing my work to a wide audience from all over the world. During the show I have spoken to visitors from Spain, America, Canada, Holland and Switzerland as well as visitors from all corners of Great Britain.

Over the next six months I will be assessing the success of Chelsea  to see if it is feasible for me to undertake another RHS show, I have got my sights set on going to RHS Hampton Court Palace next year.

Highlights of Chelsea-well meeting Alan was great, getting to know some amazing sculptors such as Andrea Geile from Scotland and Will from Australia, seeing famous people, but most of all seeing the look on the faces of the ticket winning project participants when they saw the stand.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me get to Chelsea, with special thanks to my family who without their constant love and support this would not have been possible.

Chelsea Flower Show

Well it’s the third day of the show and things are going well, comments from the public are really positive with remarks such as “Stunning” and “so natural and beautiful”

It really helps when you create art for a living to get a feedback from the public especially when it is good comments.

The editors of Craft and Design magazine came to see me today after mentioning me in the latest magazine. It was lovely to meet them, they are really friendly and enjoyed looking at my work.

Physically I am exhausted, I have stood on my feet for 13 hours every day and they are very sore now, even with my comfortable shoes, but it is all worth all the discomfort and tiredness. But I can’t wait to get home and see my family and sleep for a week! and hopefully receive some commissions for sculpture.

Chelsea story continued

Today has been the first day of The Chelsea Flower Show official opening and it has been so so busy. The weather has been great again but not as scorching as the last few days.

BBC East Midlands Today came today to film me at my stand today, they are compiling a story about the Chelsea story and the giveaway to be aired later in the month, can’t wait to see it.

The judges came by with their verdict, and although I have not won anything they did tell me that they were very pleased with my stand as a first time exhibitor, they enjoyed looking at the sculptures and the plants.

I have got so many ideas now in my head for new designs, I can’t wait to get to the studio and get making.
