Over the next eight months will see the development of my largest sculpture commission to date, to create a series of sculptures for a new housing development in town of Mickleover in Derbyshire.
The development which is situated in the North-East area of Mickleover, will feature a central green avenue which leads to a new children’s play area and pond which links the homes to the surrounding country side.
The main source of inspiration will be taken from the nature of the area, in particular from the trees, plants and seeds of the local fields and rivers.
In addition to the natural element will also be an element of history looking into past of the town, what was on that spot a hundred years ago, how the town has changed, and what has influenced its major changes over the years.
Looking forward will be the introduction of some new technologies into the project which will allow viewers of the sculpture the opportunity to find out how it was created and why and link a new audience with history, nature and the local community.
Its a very exciting project as the time scale allows plenty of scope for experimentation, research and development in addition to discovering different ways we enjoy sculpture.
Watch this space over the next few months for news, sketches and ideas, history and more.
